Children and Young People

If would like to see or speak to someone at Barnard Castle Surgery you might find the following information helpful:

  • You can choose who and how many people are present during discussion, examination and treatment
  • You can have an appointment with a doctor or nurse without an accompanying adult
  • You may choose to attend alone but you are welcome to bring a friend if you wish
  • You can expect the same standard of confidentiality as adults, which will be adhered to by all healthcare staff, including receptionists and administrative staff
  • You can specify the gender of the doctor you wish to see
  • We offer telephone appointments so that you can speak directly to a doctor or nurse on the telephone
  • You do not need to give any information about your request for an appointment to the receptionist but you can do if you would like. Our receptionists are very experienced and can be helpful in guiding to you to the right healthcare worker for your needs.

We are always keen to improve our services and would welcome any thoughts or suggestions from children and young people on how we can meet their needs effectively. To give feedback or make suggestions:

  • Speak to any member of staff
  • Use our suggestion box in the waiting room
  • Write or telephone Mrs Margaret Taube-Brown, practice manager
